Round Circle - Family of the Doolitte Raiders.

White Letters - The light of day the Raiders took off the Hornet to bomb Japan.

Black Circle - This represents night when the Raiders crashed or bailed out when bombing Japan.

Ribbon Design - The ribbon on the outer circle held the Distinguished Flying Cross awarded to all 80 men.

Doolittle Raiders Emblem - Represents all 80 men that bombed Japan. This is the emblem that our fathers entrusted with us. The Doolittle Raider emblem has become a familiar part of World War II related memorabilia. Emblazoned with the slogan, Toujours Au Danger, which means "Ever into Peril", the crest is a unique insignia designed to incorporate representations of all of the crews who took part in the historic raid.

  1. A Mitchell B-25 Bomber - the aircraft used in the raid flies above the symbols of the 4 squadrons involved.
  2. The Seven Maltese Crosses - represent the 17th Bomber Group from which three of the squadrons were selected.
  3. The Thubderbird - represents the 34th Squadron.
  4. The Kicking Mule - represents the 95th Squadron.
  5. The Lions Head - represents the 37th Squadron.
  6. The Winged Helmet - represents the 89th Reconnaissance Squadron.
These different elements of the emblem, as is the group of men the represent, were brought together under a common purpose, and remain unified as a symbol of the bond they shared as members of the Doolittle Raiders that bombed Japan on April 18th, 1942.
