Together could be better

Tokyo Raid, also known as Doolittle Raid, was the first air strike by the US military against Japan in the Pacific War of the Second World War, which began on Tuesday, April 18, 1942. The implementation of Doolittle Raid was not only a revenge against Japan's violation of international war rules, but also encouraged the people's hearts, boosted the morale of the US military, and played a certain role in inspiring and promoting the people's enthusiasm for signing up for the army. The air strike itself still brings hope to the Chinese military and civilians during the difficult period of the war of resistance.

Although the damage caused by Doolittle Raid to the Japanese Navy is negligible, it still greatly improved the morale of the Americans and swayed the prestige of the Japanese military authorities in the minds of the people. The Japanese people began to doubt about whether they have the ability to win foreign wars. After the blow, Japan had to repatriate a strong aircraft carrier formation from the Indian Ocean to defend the mainland. The raid also convinced Yamamoto Isoroku, admiral of the imperial Japanese navy that the US Pacific Fleet still had the power to strike their navy. As a matter of fact, soon after, the Battle of Midway broke out. In this war, the US Navy destroyed four Japanese aircraft carriers in the waters near MidwayIsland in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, heavily hitting the Japanese Imperial Navy, which became a turning point in the comparison of naval forces between the two sides.

At first, I only heard a little about Doolittle Raid. Then I learned more about Doolittle Raid by searching for the information online. For example, Doolittle Raid is not like the air raids of the past. The aircraft that participated in the air strikes took off directly from the deck of the aircraft carrier instead of taking off from the airport. Doing like this reduces the flight path and makes Doolittle Raid even more astonishing. For example, the bomber called B-25, participating in Doolittle Raid is also repeatedly selected. Furthermore I also learned other details from my teacher and my father that Doolittle Raid has a close relationship with Quzhou. Most of the crew members in Doolittle Raid were rescued by the people of Quzhou. Then, they returned to the United States safely. The Chinese nation has been a peace-loving nation since ancient times. The Chinese people are also peace-loving people. In order to save the American pilots, the people of Quzhou have also paid a heavy price for this, but they have no regrets, as long as the war can end soon, and the world can restore peace as soon as possible. It can be said that from that moment on, the seeds of friendship have been sown between China and the United States. After that, there are still many contacts between the two sides. For example, In 2012, Zheng Weiyong who is committed to the collection and research of the historical materials of Doolittle Raid, was invited to participate in the "70th Anniversary of Doolittle Raid ". At the end of 2013, Zheng Weiyong was once again invited to Dayton, Ohio, USA to take part in the final celebration and the ceremony of the Doolittle Raid. On the other side, in September 2015, Jeff Rachel, the son of David Thatcher, member of the No. 7 crew of Doolittle Raid, the chairman of the Doolittle Raid Children Association, came to Quzhou to revisit the story of his father being rescued .A rosewood tree was planted on the campus of Quzhou No. 2 High School to commemorate this event. In March 2018, Michael visited Quzhou again, and also came to Quzhou No. 2 High School, watering the cultivated rosewood tree at the same time. These are all the witnesses of the friendship of China and the United States.

However, the recent trade friction between China and the United States has continued. Judging from the historical process, China and the United States, as the two largest economies in the world today , can only achieve peaceful coexistence and work together to maximize the interests of each other .Only in this way can it be most beneficial to the development of each other. It is just like the crew of Doolittle Raid and the people of Quzhou. Only by mutual trust and cooperation can they win the battle.

Peace and development are the themes of the times. Only equality, mutual benefit and peaceful coexistence can bring China and the United States together to prosperity.

Finally, let us contribute our own strength to the peace and development of the world. I also wish that the friendship between China and the United States will last forever.

(Only in this article to commemorate and thank the crew in Doolittle Raid and the people of Quzhou who sacrificed to save the American pilot)
