In 2015 the CDR (Children of the Doolittle Raiders, Inc.) was incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. One of the goals of the CDR is to provide a scholarship program that awards scholarships to direct descendants of the Doolittle Raiders. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to an accredited college of the scholarship recipient’s choice.
The scholarship program for Children of the Doolittle Raiders is also a mentoring program for students. Each recipient receiving the scholarship will be responsible for providing ten (10) hours of community service per semester, such as tutoring students or providing leadership skills by helping others.
The CDR and sponsors are proud to offer this opportunity for outstanding graduating seniors in 2018 who are direct descendants of Doolittle Raiders with current dues to CDR paid in full.
The committee reviewing applications for the scholarship program will consist of the CDR Board of Directors.
How funds will be disbursed:
The scholarship awards will be forwarded directly to the college of choice indicated by the recipient. Funds will be applied to registration, tuition, and other campus costs. Recipients will not receive funds directly.
Rules:
- Applicant must have an ACT score of 20 or higher or an SAT score of 1050 or higher.
- Scholarship will be provided in a single payout.
- Recipient must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
- Recipient must attend an accredited college of his/her choice.
- Recipient may choose to attend a two-year community college or a four-year university.
- Recipient must serve as a tutor in an elementary or secondary school or provide community service for 10 hours per semester.
- Transcript of each semester’s grades must be forwarded to CDR.
The Selection Process:
- Applications will be reviewed by CDR Scholarship Board.
- CDR President will contact each recipient to be awarded a scholarship.
