Col. Dick Cole Promotion and Burial

On September 7, 2021, which would have been his 106^th birthday, Col. Dick Cole was posthumously promoted to the rank of Colonel in the United States Air Force. Then, after a memorial service honoring Col. Cole and his wife, Martha, his remains were buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.  The burial ceremony included a caisson ride for the cremated remains of Col. Cole and flyovers by 5 B-25 Bombers, 2 C-47 Dakota cargo planes, and an F-15E  missing man formation.
