The Doolittle Raiders & Columbia Army Air Base Museum
A new museum dedicated to the Doolittle Raid is being planned near Columbia, South Carolina, the site of the Raiders’ 60th Reunion in 2002. Tentatively named the Doolittle Raiders & Columbia Army Air Base Museum, the museum will be located on a 5-acre site adjacent to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport and will feature memorabilia and exhibits related to the Doolittle Raid, including an actual restored B-25 Mitchell bomber which had been salvaged from the bottom of a South Carolina lake where it had crashed while on a training exercise during WWII.
